Community Guidelines
Raft is for meeting people where you actually live — showing up somewhere, with someone, in person. That only works if people are who they say they are and treat each other decently. These Guidelines are part of our Terms of Service and apply everywhere on Raft: profiles, photos, voice, messages, Pings, Harbors and Rafts, coaching, and anything else you post or send.
Be Who You Say You Are
Every member verifies their identity with a government ID and a live selfie before they can reach anyone. Keep it honest after that too.
- Use photos that are recent and of you.
- Do not impersonate anyone, real or invented, and do not misrepresent your age, work, or location.
- One account per person. Do not share it, sell it, or run one for someone else.
- Do not evade a ban or attempt to manipulate verification.
Treat People Decently
- No harassment, threats, intimidation, stalking, or abuse — including after someone stops replying.
- No hate speech or attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- No unsolicited sexual content. No nudity in profiles or public spaces.
- No sharing anyone’s private information, photos, or messages without their consent.
- No means no, the first time. If someone stops replying, unmatches, or leaves a gathering, that is an answer. Do not pursue it on another surface.
Never, Under Any Circumstances
These end an account immediately and permanently, and we report them to the authorities where the law requires it:
- Any sexualized content involving a minor, real, drawn, edited, or generated.
- Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to sexualize or arrange contact with a minor.
- Sextortion, or threatening to share anyone’s intimate images.
- Trafficking, or advertising or facilitating sexual exploitation.
- Credible threats of violence, or promotion of terrorism or mass violence.
- Use of Raft by anyone under 18.
Our full standards and reporting routes are on the Child Safety Standards page.
Show Up
A Ping is a promise to a real person who is planning around you. Raft tracks whether people turn up, and it affects what you can join.
- If you say you are going, go — or change your answer as early as you can.
- Do not create Pings for gatherings that are not real.
- Do not check in somewhere you are not.
- Repeated no-shows and late bails limit your access to hosting and to popular gatherings.
Meet Safely
- Meet in public, especially the first few times. Pings at private residences are not allowed.
- Tell someone where you are going. Arrange your own way there and back.
- Never send money to someone you met here. Nobody legitimate will ask.
- Leave any situation that feels wrong, and report it. In an emergency, call your local emergency services first.
Raft verifies identity. It does not run criminal background checks, and verification cannot tell you what someone has done.
Keep It Real, Not Commercial
- No spam, chain messages, or bulk outreach.
- No promoting other platforms, driving traffic elsewhere, or recruiting for MLMs, investments, or crypto.
- No selling or advertising through Pings or messages. Businesses can promote through Boosted Pings.
- No scraping, automating, or interfering with the Services or with any safety feature.
- Coaching must be something you are actually qualified and permitted to offer.
What Happens When Someone Breaks These
Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may hide or remove content, limit how far it travels, restrict features like dating, messaging, calling, hosting or coaching, require you to verify again, suspend an account, or ban it permanently. Serious safety violations skip straight to a permanent ban.
Bans are permanent, and the record is too. Reports, blocks, enforcement decisions and meeting history are kept forever and survive account deletion — see Terms, Section 6. Deleting your account does not clear your record or let you start over.
If we get it wrong, write to hello@raft.social within 90 days. A person will look at it again and you will get an answer with reasons.
Reporting
Every profile, conversation, group, and gathering has a report control. Reports are confidential — the person you report is not told who reported them. You can block someone at the same time, or instead; blocking does not require a report.
Child safety reports jump the queue and are reviewed ahead of everything else. Anyone can report a concern, with or without an account, at hello@raft.social.
Please do not use reports to settle disagreements. Filing reports you know to be false is itself a violation.
