Child Safety Standards
Raft Ventures, Inc. (“Raft,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates an adults-only service. We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation (“CSAE”) of any kind, without exception. This page sets out our standards against CSAE, the measures we take to prevent it, how anyone can report a concern, and how to reach the person responsible for these practices. It supplements our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and Privacy Policy.
Raft Is an Adults-Only Service
Raft is available only to people aged 18 and older. This is not a self-declared age gate. Before any person can reach another person on Raft, they must complete identity verification with a government-issued photo ID and a live selfie, processed by a third-party identity verification provider. An unverified adult may see a limited preview of public gatherings, but cannot see member profiles, attendee identities, exact venues, messages, groups, dating, or any feature that permits contact with another person.
Date of birth is required before that limited preview. Provider-confirmed underage accounts are denied access, and identity and age verification remains mandatory before any interpersonal or location-sensitive feature. We consider that boundary our single most important child safety control.
What We Prohibit
The following are strictly forbidden on Raft, and are grounds for immediate and permanent removal:
- Child sexual abuse material (“CSAM”), or any sexualized depiction of a minor, whether real, drawn, edited, or generated.
- Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to sexualize, exploit, or arrange contact with a minor.
- Sextortion, or threatening to share intimate imagery of a minor, including imagery obtained or generated by any means.
- Trafficking, advertising, or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a minor.
- Use of the service by anyone under 18, including an adult creating or operating an account on a minor’s behalf.
- Attempting to evade our verification, moderation, or enforcement systems for any of the above.
These prohibitions apply everywhere on Raft — profiles, photos, audio, messages, group and gathering content, and any other user-submitted material.
How We Prevent and Detect Abuse
- Mandatory identity and age verification — government ID plus a live selfie, required before seeing or contacting people, revealing exact meeting places, joining or hosting gatherings, using groups, messaging, dating, or coaching as a provider.
- In-app reporting — every profile, message thread, group, and gathering carries a reporting control, available to any member at any time.
- Blocking — members can block another member immediately, independently of whether they file a report.
- Human review — reports raising a child safety concern are prioritized for review by our team, ahead of the general moderation queue.
- Account termination — we remove violating content and permanently ban the accounts and verified identities behind it. Because access requires verified identity, a banned person cannot trivially return under a new account.
- Preservation — a child safety report places a permanent hold on the records of everyone involved. Held records cannot be purged, scrubbed, or anonymized by any retention process, by our own staff, or by the account holder deleting their account, and the hold itself cannot be lifted. Message content that a member edits or unsends is written to an archive that cannot be altered or deleted, so taking a message back does not remove it from the record we can produce to authorities.
Reporting a Concern
Inside the app: open the profile, conversation, group, or gathering in question, choose “Report,” and select Child safety. You may add details in your own words. Reports can be filed by any member, and you may block the account at the same time. A report in this category is escalated automatically — it does not wait behind the general moderation queue.
By email: anyone — member or not — may report a concern to hello@raft.social. You do not need a Raft account to contact us, and you may report anonymously.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In the United States, suspected child sexual exploitation can also be reported directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678.
How We Respond
We aim to acknowledge reports involving a child safety concern within 24 hours and to act on confirmed violations immediately upon review. Our response includes removing the content, terminating the accounts involved, preserving relevant records, and reporting to the appropriate authorities.
As a company based in the United States, we report apparent child sexual abuse material to NCMEC as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and we cooperate with valid requests from law enforcement. Where we operate in other jurisdictions, we report to the relevant regional and national authorities in line with local law.
